Value Added Team (VAT) Operator

The Value Added Team (VAT) Operator role at Dura Magnetics, Inc., a premier custom magnetics manufacturer, is responsible for sorting magnets and job-specific parts, executing magnetization processes, packaging finished items securely, performing tasks with precision and safety, monitoring product quality, adhering to procedures and safety guidelines, and completing jobs with precision, efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

General Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently sort magnets and various job-specific parts based on defined criteria, ensuring proper classification and organization.
  • Perform magnetization processes in accordance with established procedures to meet product requirements and quality specifications.
  • Precisely apply markings, labels, or identification codes on products as per instructions and quality guidelines.
  • Package finished products, ensuring proper protection, and adherence to packaging standards to prevent damage during transit.
  • Execute chemical etching tasks with precision, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards as applicable.
  • Operate and maintain equipment related to value-added processes, ensure proper functioning and reporting of any issues promptly.
  • Consistently monitor output quality, identify defects or discrepancies, and promptly report them to supervisors or quality control teams.
  • Follow standardized operating procedures and safety guidelines diligently to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Maintain optimal productivity by managing time effectively and meeting production targets within specified timelines.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate production activities and ensure smooth workflow across the value-added department.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred

Position Requirements

  • Keen eye for detail and ability to maintain accuracy while handling repetitive tasks
  • Solid understanding of quality control test equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information
  • Basic computer and Excel skills
  • Ability to multi-task

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to complete with or without an accommodation
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks without compromising efficiency and quality
  • Aptitude for identifying and resolving minor technical issues or inefficiencies in the production process
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Demonstrated ability to move hands swiftly and with precision to handle small parts and perform intricate tasks

Environmental Requirements

  • Position required to work in a production environment
  • Exposed to high noise
  • Protective eyewear is required at all times in the production environment
  • Position is exposed to machinery with moving parts
  • May be exposed to varying temperatures
